The Spanish study Bakpak Architects<\/strong> has received a honourable mention in the international competition <\/strong>for the design of the new Museum of History and the Future in Finland<\/strong>a call that has brought together more than 400 architectural firms from all over the world<\/strong>. The project, presented under the slogan Muistipalatsi <\/em>(\"Palace of Memory\" in Finnish) <\/a>and realised together with Architectural Office Lylykangas Kimmo Oy and DAGOpen<\/a>proposes a museum conceived as a contemporary sanctuary where memory and future converge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The concept is based on a powerful idea: time transforms every instant into a memory, and the museum becomes the space where this transition becomes visible. Bakpak's proposal is based on a compact, silent and symbolic architecture, designed as a \"temple\". <\/strong>where natural light, matter and scale construct a contemplative experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the urban environment, the volume is presented as a clear and serene piece in front of the landscape<\/strong>The building defines a clear public space and links up with the surrounding green environment. The building organises its functions through a rational scheme: a lower level open to public uses - lobby, shop, cafeteria - and a large upper exhibition level characterised by flexible and neutral rooms. Circulation is articulated through a sculptural staircase that runs through the main atrium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The museum is developed on the basis of high energy efficiency<\/strong>The building envelope is compact, with solar control, zenithal light and thermal mass to promote indoor environmental stability. These elements are integrated into a architecture that seeks to be timeless, austere and deeply linked to the landscape.<\/strong> Northern European countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To be a finalist in a competition of this scale and importance is a international recognition of Bakpak Architects' conceptual and formal trajectory.<\/strong>The project has consolidated its presence on the scene of contemporary European architecture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
