In the midst of the biggest global real estate crisis of the modern era, five dreamers in Seville found Bakpak Architects. Ambition, spirit, youth and talent come together in a small architecture office with a clear international vision.

We won our first competition in China

Our focus on the Asian market, after numerous efforts and commercial actions in China, led us to be invited to a competition to design a mixed-use building (hotel, offices and retail) in Guiyang for the metallurgical company Shougang Group. We won the competition.

We start working in Germany

Our international network of stable partners starts in Germany with the partnership between bakpak and ALN. After jointly winning the tender for the development of the master plan for the city of Germering, we started the work of adapting the urban planning information.

The studio has won multiple international awards for its outstanding work in sustainable architecture.

These include a mention for the Krakow National Archive in Poland, second prize ex aequo for the 104 Zero Consumption homes in Madrid, and first prize for the housing tower in Lima, Peru, among other notable awards.

First experience: Poland

The beginning of our international trajectory was forged in Poland. After winning 2nd Prize in the competition for the National Archive, in collaboration with the prestigious studio Guillermo Vázquez Consuegra Arquitectos, we won an architectural competition for a mixed-use project fusing hotel, residential and commercial in the vibrant city of Rzeszow. In collaboration with EOVASTUDIO, this project became a foundational milestone, consolidating one of Bakpak Architects' essential lines of work: the creation of buildings that engage in a profound dialogue with the cultural heritage of their surroundings.

This project in Rzeszow was not only an architectural challenge, but also an opportunity to explore the historical and cultural richness of the city, integrating it harmoniously into the design of the building.

An example of this is the incorporation of the "Pottery Courtyard" concept, a space that pays homage to the rich pottery tradition of southern Poland, establishing a point of connection between the past and the present. This connection became a key element, reflecting Bakpak Architects' philosophy of creating spaces that transcend their function, becoming an integral part of the urban fabric.

A bet: Estonia

"Estonia represented a strategic move for Bakpak Architects' international expansion, based on collaboration with local partners. This strategy laid the foundation for our subsequent foray into other global markets.

Our first approach to the country materialised through the competition for the Kaubamaja complex, a mixed-use building that integrates offices, housing and a shopping centre. This project marked a turning point in our trajectory, consolidating our presence in a market that has brought us numerous satisfactions and recognitions. Estonia has become one of our markets of greatest interest and projection.

Kaubamaja also consolidated a strong relationship with our partner DAGOPEN, a collaboration that continues to this day and has resulted in participation in many of the country's leading competitions. As a result of this alliance, we have obtained important victories, including the Kaubamaja (Hotel on the Baltic Sea) and Viljandi (the most technologically advanced hospital in the country) projects".

We accompany: Peru

This project represented a new way of approaching the international market, establishing a strategic partnership with a local developer in its global expansion. PARDO 200 is not only an architectural landmark, but also an example of our ability to lead complex projects in international contexts.

Centre for the innovation and promotion of Iberian ham in Jabugo

"Bakpak Architects has been awarded the prestigious Best Building Award for the Bakpak Architects project. Centre for the Innovation and Promotion of Ibérico Ibéricoawarded by the College of Architects of Huelva, in recognition of excellence and innovation in architectural design".

The jury has valued, according to the minutes, "the great balance and proportion between the economic means used and the final architectural proposal, taking into account the urban space where it is located, the materials used and the great success between the full 'the built' and the empty spaces, generating a space in movement, which extols the uniqueness of the existing building of Aníbal González, from 1929, located in the idyllic landscape of the Sierra de Huelva surrounding the town of Jabugo".

This award consolidates Bakpak Architects as a reference in architecture that fuses respect for heritage, innovation and harmony with the environment".

Europe, our playground: Germany

Bakpak Architects' entry into the German market started with a significant collaboration with the Spanish studio Guillermo Vázquez Consuegra for the competition for the extension of the BAUHAUS Museum. This first step laid the foundation for considering Germany as a strategic market, valuing its culture of excellence.

Following the success of our internationalisation strategy in Estonia, we established a strong alliance with local partner ALN to facilitate our consolidation in the competitive German market.

In close collaboration with our valued partner ALN, we have participated in multiple architectural competitions, winning major victories including the ambitious Germerin Masterplang, the iconic Ausbur Towerg, innovative housing in Karlsruhe and a complex of buildings in Degendorf. These projects are a clear reflection of our firm commitment to excellence, innovation and the ability to adapt to the particularities of each urban context, consolidating our presence in the German market.

New typologies: Sanitary

"Bakpak Architects reshapes the standards of hospital architecture with their winning design for the most technologically advanced hospital in Estonia, in the city of Viljandi. This project, the result of an international competition, introduces an innovative vision that prioritises well-being and connection with nature, integrating the concept of the Mediterranean courtyard in the heart of a Nordic environment.

Wood, chosen as the main material, not only brings warmth and comfort, but also becomes an element of healing, creating spaces that favour recovery and emotional well-being.

With this project, Bakpak Architects consolidates its leadership in creating spaces that transform the hospital experience, fusing cutting-edge technology, innovative design and a deep respect for the environment."

A+ extraordinary to the most promising young architecture studio in Spain.

Bakpak Architects has been awarded the Extraordinary A+ Award for the Most Promising Young Architectural Studio in Spain, a recognition that celebrates the studio's excellence and potential on the national architectural scene.

This prestigious award, which in previous editions has recognised renowned studios such as Langarita-Navarro, H-arquitectes or José M.ª Sánchez García, highlights the trajectory and impact of Bakpak Architects in the sector.

The jury, in its deliberations, highlighted:

• "They have managed to have continuity in their work and have managed to enter a market with very high entry barriers. The finished patina of their projects is very high and the internationalisation they have achieved has great merit".
• "On their way to realising large-scale projects, they have found a winning architectural expression that succeeds in presenting programmatically complex structures in coherent and bold packages".
• "Defenders of an architecture that is carefully related to its surroundings, committed to our times and at the same time, with a timeless and very international character".

This recognition consolidates Bakpak Architects as a studio with a promising future, capable of creating innovative and relevant projects on a national and international level.

Architecture Award of the Andalusian Regional Government to the emerging trajectory.
